Hand-crafted New Zealand made chalkboards. Each chalkboard product bears the signature 'The Chalkboard Company' brass badge branding. Custom designs and commercial products are also available.
The Chalkboard Company has a policy of minimising any harmful environmental impact in the manufacture of its products.
The standard range of chalkboards are sized to achieve zero MDF off-cut waste. Interior frames are made with untreated timber from sustainable plantations. Off-cuts are typically under 5% and where possible used in packaging.
The low VOC paints are from Resene which has an environmental policy and waste minimisation and recycling programme. Painting of chalkboard surfaces and frames is carried out in batches to minimise frequency of wash-out of rollers and brushes.
Wood oil is low VOC. Refer Care for preventative maintenance of oiled surfaces.
The Chalkboard Company packaging for freight is typically purpose-made fully recyclable corrugated cardboard book-sleeves. No plastics or bubble wrap are used unless they are being re-used. Wood and/or mdf off-cuts are also used for packaging. Chalk is packaged in recyclable paper bags.
